John Mohin

Liverpool Festival for Business


John Mohin is an accomplished executive who served primarily with Wedgwood and later, Waterford Crystal and Royal Crown Derby in business development.

As Director of Corporate Affairs at Wedgwood, John was responsible for negotiating marketing alliances with Ralph Lauren, Jasper Conran and the International Olympic Committee. Working directly with the Royal Household, he was granted the Royal Warrant  by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother, Her Majesty the Queen and HRH Prince Charles on behalf of Wedgwood.

He has considerable experience of creating export markets in the Middle East, Caribbean, South America and Asia. He was President of Wedgwood Japan and Managing Director of Waterford Wedgwood Australia, for which he was later awarded Australian citizenship, which is held jointly with Great Britain.

He is conversant with the challenges faced by SME’s seeking to create overseas markets and is a Member of UK Trade & Investment, taking a special interest advising on Intellectual Property and luxury brands.

For his work in the British pottery industry, he was conferred with an Honorary Doctorate and was made OBE for Services to Industry and Charity in the North West.

He worked directly with Lord Alton in establishing the Foundation for Citizenship and was instrumental in creating a Scholarship Fund, for which he was made an Honorary Fellow of John Moores University when Liverpool was designated European Capital of Culture in 2008.

John is passionate about the scale of opportunity for business development that exists in the Commonwealth community of countries and serves as Chairman of the Business Forum at Liverpool Commonwealth Association.
