CONNECTING THE COMMONWEALTH in Lagos, Nigeria on Thursday 28th of June 2018

The Commonwealth Enterprise and Investment Council (CWEIC) is delighted to be hosting the first Connecting the Commonwealth series of events in Lagos, Nigeria on Thursday 28th June 2018.

This Connecting the Commonwealth half-day event coincides with the Lord Mayor of the City of London’s 3-day visit to Nigeria and will bring together senior management representatives from a mix of Commonwealth based multinationals, large corporations and SMEs alongside their Nigerian counterparts. There will also be high-level State and Federal Government participation including the Hon. Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment.
This event will also showcase Nigerian business to the wider Commonwealth business community, highlighting areas for growth within the expanding and diversifying Nigerian market. Nigeria is an exciting and dynamic emerging market within the Commonwealth and is the ideal place to build upon the success of the recent Commonwealth Business Forum held in London, which had strong participation from prominent Nigerian business leaders, as well as His Excellency Muhammadu Buhari GCFR, President of Nigeria.

Alderman Charles Bowman, The Rt Hon the Lord Mayor of the City of London will participate as the Chief Guest and will lead the opening roundtable alongside H E Akinwunmi Ambode, Lagos State Governor (TBC). The discussion will explore the business opportunities and links between Commonwealth cities and how both London and Lagos can maximise on common synergies, utilising London’s role as a global financial centre, and Lagos as Africa’s pre-eminent business hub.

Hon Dr Okechukwu Enelamah, Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment of Nigeria will lead the following roundtable, which will focus on both the Nigerian Government and the business community’s role in strengthening intra-Africa trade, and enhancing the continent’s attractiveness to Commonwealth investors.

• Enhancing trade between Nigeria and the Commonwealth • Nigeria’s leadership role in boosting intra-African trade • The role of Lagos in driving economic growth across Nigeria • Supporting SME growth
• Through interactive roundtable discussions, participants will engage with key stakeholders from the Nigerian private sector and Government. • Participants will present innovative business led solutions to decision makers, as well as discussing existing challenges and how to effectively tackle them.
