Export Champions are provided with unique access and support in their quest to win new business in the fast growing Commonwealth markets. Their success will be showcased as an encouragement to the wider UK business community.

Nairn’s Oatcakes Limited

The market leader in Oatcakes, Nairn’s have been baking with oats since 1896, exporting to around 30 countries. Producing healthy snacking products which are both wheat and gluten free, Nairn’s key customers are lifestyles, millennials, mums and families and those diagnosed with gastroenterological allergies and intolerances.

Using simple, natural and wholesome ingredients to make a delicious range of oatcakes, crackers, flatbreads and biscuits; Nairn’s is determined to capitalise on the trend for snacking which in the last decade has seen a 44% increase in people having 3+ snacks a day.

New products and innovation continue to be a key strategy of Nairn’s, with a strategy to reach £4million export sales within the next 3 years. With the opening of a new £6million dedicated gluten free factory 12 months ago, Nairn’s is well placed to meet capacity to meet future growth in the gluten free category.

With a rich heritage in export, Nairn’s is keen to build on already existing Commonwealth markets such as South Africa, Canada, Cyprus, Malta, Australia, New Zealand. As a Commonwealth Export Champion, Nairn’s hopes to expand further into markets including India, Malaysia and Singapore.
