Made purely from the clean waters around the Isle of Anglesey, Halen Môn’s gem-like sea salt crystals are sold across the globe and loved by chefs and food lovers alike. The family-run company is also fast becoming famous for its innovative smoked water - a natural, clean-label ingredient which adds depth and savoury flavour to a huge range of foods.
The company targets food ingredients, retail stores, food service and the gift market.
Halen Môn’s brand is considered to be higher end than other competitor’s. The company are BRC Grade AA, Kosher, Soil Association organic and PDO, and recently won the Queen’s Award for Sustainability. Unlike it’s competitors, the business has its own in-house grinder so can mill sea salt to customers’ specifications, and all blending and packing is done on site. With a drive to reduce table salt in prepared foods, and an increased interest in real provenance, the demand for sea salt is growing.
The smokery side of the business is also growing – and the company is exploring new markets for their innovative, clean label smoked water, which adds flavour to anything from breads to pastries, cocktails to caramels, as well as their smoked salts.
Already exporting to Commonwealth markers in Singapore and Australia, the company is keen to target new markets including Australia, Canada, Maldives, South Africa and India to name but a few. Commonwealth First will work with Halen Môn to ensure others benefit from their unique sea salts.
